Canadian Politics

I have traditionally voted for Canada’s New Democratic Party (NDP), because that is the political party most closely aligned with my progressive beliefs and values. However, I have recently switched to supporting the somewhat more centrist Liberals, because the flip-flopping of the Conservatives’ Pierre Poilievre from criticizing Canada as being broken, obsessing about axing the carbon tax, and loving/aping Trump to “Canada First … For A Change” (whatever the f$%k that means) is just ridiculous.

The Liberals’ Mark Carney is not perfect, but Poilievre is just completely not to be trusted AT ALL. I feel bad for Jagmeet Singh and the NDP likely losing a lot of seats, but they need some kind of new direction. In my riding, NDP and Green supporters really need to consider voting for the Liberals, because the Liberal incumbent seems to be in some danger of losing to a Conservative. I hope the government will finally get around to electoral reform, so I can go back to voting the way I prefer. The NDP would then get representation actually consistent with its usual 18-20% support level.
